About Sail in Mexico
Sailing, Exploration, and Human Growth—All in One Place
Where real sailing, real learning, and real adventure meet
Sail in Mexico was created for people who want more than a sailing course. It was built for those who want to understand the sea, live with it, learn from it, and grow through it.
Yes, we are a sailing school. But we are also a home for ocean adventures, professional development, corporate leadership programs, and transformative experiences that blend seamanship, exploration, and human growth.
Founded by Roberto Cámara, a sailor with more than 30,000 nautical miles, a circumnavigation, and a solid background in maritime law, Sail in Mexico brings together two worlds that rarely coexist: professional precision and the freedom of the open ocean.

Our Essence
At Sail in Mexico, sailing is not a sport or a hobby. It is a way of being alive.
We teach sailing the way it has always been taught: with wind, sails, awareness, calm, and salt on your hands.
But we also believe the sea is a powerful teacher far beyond technique. It shapes leadership, decision‑making, resilience, teamwork, and clarity of mind.
That is why our work spans:
- Sailing courses and certifications
- Custom sailing experiences for travelers and adventurers
- Ocean passages and expeditions
- Zero to Hero liveaboard programs
- Corporate sailing and leadership programs
- Team‑building at sea
- Executive development through navigation
We don’t just teach you how to sail. We teach you how to think, move, and lead at sea.
Our Vision
To become the leading reference in Mexico and Latin America for authentic sailing education, ocean expeditions, and leadership programs at sea, inspiring people from all backgrounds to reconnect with the ocean as a place of learning, exploration, and personal transformation.
We envision a community of sailors, adventurers, and teams who understand the sea not only as a destination, but as a teacher — one that cultivates awareness, resilience, humility, and confidence. Through our programs, we aim to expand access to meaningful maritime experiences and to shape a new generation of sailors who navigate the world with skill, curiosity, and a deep respect for nature.
Our Mission
To train sailors and teams who are capable, conscious, and confident — through experiences that combine:
- real sailing,
- hands‑on learning,
- respect for the sea,
- personal and professional growth,
- and the transformative power of living aboard.
Every person who steps onto one of our boats should leave with something new: a skill, a story, a lesson, or a shift in how they see themselves and the world.

Who Is Captain Roberto Cámara
Founder, instructor, and lifelong student of the ocean
Roberto didn’t arrive at the sea — the sea adopted him.
He has crossed the Pacific during the pandemic, sailed from Alaska to Japan through volcanic archipelagos, navigated the Indian and Atlantic Oceans, explored the Sea of Cortez, and completed a round‑the‑world journey between 2016 and 2026.
Before dedicating his life to sailing, he built a distinguished career in maritime law. He graduated with honors from UNAM and earned an LL.M. in the Law of the Sea from Lund University and the World Maritime University. He worked at the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, advised the oil and gas industry, and participated in international climate negotiations.
Today, he blends that legal and technical expertise with decades of ocean experience to offer training that is rigorous, safe, and deeply human. Read his full biography here.
